ISLAMABAD, Feb 7 (APP): The chehlum of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was held across the country Thursday.
The main function in this regard was held Garhi Khuda Baksh, where a large number of party workers participated in the ceremony, PTV reported.
Speaking on the occasion, co-chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party, Asif Ali Zardari said, if voted to power, his party will work for the welfare of the down-trodden and the poor. He expressed the resolve that PPP will continue the mission of its late leader Benazir Bhutto for the country’s development, and uplift of the deprived.
He said, the PPP will implement its manifesto and make efforts to strengthen the democratic institutions.
Earlier, Qurani Khawani and Dua was held for the departed soul of Benazir Bhutto.
Prominent PPP leaders, workers and a large number of people attended the ceremony. People visited the grave of Benazir Bhutto from different parts of the country to pay homage to their leader.
A big gathering was also held at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi despite heavy rain to pay tributes to Benazir Bhutto. The function was attended by PPP leaders, workers of the party and people from different walks of life.
