According to information, the vote of confidence is not scheduled to be discussed at the Punjab Assembly meeting on Monday. Elahi had previously declined to participate in the voting, claiming that the orders from Punjab governor Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman were unconstitutional.

PTI has cancelled the Monday vote of confidence in light of Elahi’s comments.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, stated that the court’s directives should determine when the vote will take place.

To convince the governor to dissolve the provincial parliament following his demands, Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi must receive a vote of confidence.

Elahi promised not to dissolve the assembly before the next hearing, therefore the LHC delayed the notification after hearing the views of the Punjab government and others.

At a later PTI consultative meeting held at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park home, it was decided that the election would occur before January 11.

Elahi had a change of heart on Friday and refused to abide by the governor’s orders, which compelled the PTI to devise a countermove.

The PTI has reportedly decided, following advice from the party’s legal gurus, not to take a vote of confidence during the Punjab Assembly session on January 9.

According to the sources, the legal team had urged PTI Chairman Imran Khan that the trust vote should be connected to the court ruling because the governor’s order requesting CM Elahi to seek a vote of confidence from the Punjab assembly lacked a legal foundation.

They claimed that because the governor’s directives lack legal standing, legal experts advised PTI Chairman Imran Khan to condition the vote of confidence on judicial orders.

According to sources, Khan was informed by specialists that the governor’s directives would be rendered worthless if Elahi obtained a vote of confidence before a court’s directive.

Zainab Umair, a PTI MPA, stated that discussions are now being had regarding all facets of the situation.
