Naveed, the defendant, acknowledged to firing first at Imran Khan’s container in Wazirabad last week in a petition submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday.

The primary suspect in the botched assassination attempt on the PTI leader was being held in “illegal detention,” according to a file given to LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti by the province high court’s registry office.

In the petition, the petitioner’s attorney asked that the “illegally detained” Naveed be immediately freed, claiming that the accused is unrelated to this case.

The petitioner claimed that conflicts between politicians and the influential corridors were to blame for Naveed’s continued “illegal confinement.”

According to the “real essence of Article 199 of the Constitution,” anyone could be the petitioner, the petitioner’s attorney contended in the petition.

But the petitioner faced opposition from the LHC Registrar’s Office since the individual who filed the plea was neither an impacted person nor a member of the harmed person’s family.

While Imran was leading the PTI’s “Haqeeqi Azadi March” on Thursday, a gunman began firing on his vehicle, striking the former prime minister and wounding his leg.

The event resulted in the death of one person and the injuries of numerous people close to the PTI chairman, notably Senator Faisal Javed, former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Ahmad Chattha, and Imran Yousaf.

Naveed Ahmad, the shooter’s suspect, acknowledged firing on the PTI chief’s container when being questioned.

In addition to misrepresenting the country, Imran had also spoken blasphemous remarks, according to Naveed, who expressed his frustration to the investigators.

However, Naveed’s allegations about the incident were deemed “doubtful” by the police since they thought he was a heroin addict.
