The suspect, who was quickly arrested by the Punjab Police following the shooting of former prime minister Imran Khan in Gujranwala, has said that he shot the PTI leader because he was “misleading” the country.

“He could mislead the nation, in my opinion. I just intended to kill Imran Khan, not anyone else “He stated in a video statement while being held by police.

Additionally, the suspect confessed that he had been planning to do it ever before the ousted prime departed Lahore and began his long march. He said, “I did this [the attack] on my own and there is no one behind me.

The attacker shot the PTI leader in the leg, leaving him injured. His condition is stable, according to former leaders of the ruling party, and he has been transported to Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore. During the assault, Senator Faisal Javed also suffered serious injuries.

The PTI leader was taken to the hospital after reportedly receiving multiple leg gunshot wounds. Security forces rushed to secure the area following the incident as chaotic scenes were seen.

The act was condemned by many people, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said that the federal government will provide the Punjab government with all the assistance required for security and investigation.

Shehbaz said, “Violence should not be tolerated in our country’s politics.”
