Early on Sunday, terrorists assaulted a recently built police station in Laki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwar, killing four police officers and injuring many more. Using hand grenades and rocket launchers, the criminals launched an early morning assault on the Bargi police station.

After engaging the police in sustained gunfire, the suspects ran from the site. The injured authorities and the bodies were taken to the nearby state hospitals.

Later, a large police presence appeared at the police station and began a search operation in the neighbourhood to find the suspects who had fled.

TASI Gull Sahib Khan, Constables Balqiaz, Ameer Nawaz, and Farman Ullah have been named as the injured. Six cops were assassinated a month ago, while two civilians were killed there two days prior.

According to police spokesperson Shahid Hameed, the six police officers embraced martyrdom when their car was attacked by unidentified motorcycle riders close to the Wanda Shahabkhel neighbourhood within the boundaries of the Dadiwala police station in the Lakki Marwat region.

The police mobile from the Abbasa Khattak police station was on its way to Landiwah hamlet to provide security at the regular Wednesday bazaar when the attackers opened fire on it, the spokeswoman claimed.

Law and order situation in K-P

Since a rise in threats and attacks against security personnel and prominent political figures has been noted over the past few weeks, the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has deteriorated.

Samar Bilour, the Awami National Party’s (ANP) provincial spokeswoman, also disclosed that their provincial president Aimal Wali Khan had received a call informing him of a plan to assassinate him.

The protection of their leaders is the state’s obligation, according to Samar, who also added that if the state does not take action, they will be forced to take matters into their own hands.

Samar Haroon Bilour had stated last week that “apart from Aimal Wali Khan, Sardar Hussain Babak and others have also received threats while the house of MPA Faisal Zeb has been damaged thrice in the recent few weeks.”

In addition to the attack on ANP MPA Faisal Zeb’s home in Shangla, a grenade was recently thrown at party senator Hidayatullah’s home in Peshawar.
