The Prime Minister gave the departments involved the go-ahead to deliver a thorough plan as soon as possible for the adoption of electric cars. As he presided over a high-level meeting on integrating electric buses into the fleet of public transportation, advancing the electric vehicle industry, and developing renewable energy sources, the prime minister declared that “there is a dire need to develop renewable power resources to make the country self-sufficient in energy reserves.”

Additionally, PM Sharif requested that the Board of Investment, Ministry of Power and Energy, and Ministry of Trade and Industries provide every facility to investors interested in the market for electric vehicles.

He also emphasized how the government had approved the start of the 10,000-megawatt solar project.

“The solar project will not only reduce environmental pollution but also ensure the generation of cheap electricity by cutting our reliance on costly imported fuels, thus saving valuable foreign exchange,” he added.
